Department of Philosophy
Focus of research:
The Department is primarily focused on monitoring and analyzing contemporary philosophical, religious, and cultural theories that shape the intellectual milieu in Russia and the West. The study of socio-humanitarian thought development trends is incomplete without accounting for the influence of classical heritage, which is being examined. Engaging in research and scientific analysis, the Department concentrates on contemporary philosophical anthropology and philosophy of culture, social and political philosophy, interfaith dialogue, posthumanism, current philosophical issues in science, bioethics, among others.

The Department of Philosophy publishes the information-analytical journal “The social sciences and humanities. Domestic and foreign literature. Series 3, Philosophy”. The Department regularly carries out editorial preparation of issues of the journal “Human Being: Image and Essence. Humanitarian Aspects” devoted to philosophical topics. In addition to periodicals, the Department prepares monographs and analytical reviews.
The Department hosts regular scientific seminars (“Religion and Culture,” “Philosophy of Art”) and public lecture series on religious studies (“Re-ligare”).
