Head of the Department — Elena V. Alferova
Focus of research:
- identifying new trends and theories in law and exploring different branches of jurisprudence
- analyzing contemporary international, foreign, and Russian legislative and law enforcement practices in regulating new technologies, environmental protection, and quality of human life
- investigating the genealogy and futurology of law, and the constitutional development of modern states
- studying and assessing new scientific research by Russian and foreign legal scholars, evaluating their contributions to the development of legal disciplines
- preparing and publishing the academic journal “Social and Humanitarian Sciences: Domestic and Foreign Literature” Series 4 “State and Law” (listed by the Higher Attestation Commission and RSCI), which has been published since 1974 as an abstract journal and reformatted in 2021 into an information and analytical journal.
The Department is involved in scientific, informational, and research activities in the realm of jurisprudence. Among its primary objectives are the provision of up-to-date scientific information in legal sciences to legal scholars, practicing lawyers, law educators, postgraduates and students, and public sector employees, focusing on new trends and developments in legal sciences and legislation in Russia and other countries, along with offering informational and methodological support for legal education.
Established in 1972, the Department of Law and Legal Studies at INION RAN, formerly known as the Department of State and Law, has a rich history.
