Department of Cultural Studies
The Department of Cultural Studies was established in 1992.
Focus of research:
- Religiousness and literature of Russian abroad;
- Genesis and evolution of winged words in popular culture;
- Semantics of cultural landscapes and semiotics of space;
- Constitutional culture, the history of constitutional law;
- Memory studies and urban anthropology;
- Cultural landscape of 19th century Europe: folklore and written traditions.

The Department publishes the academic journal “Herald of Culturology”.
The Department hosts a regular seminar on “Religion and Culture,” in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, as well as a public lecture series “Chronicles of the British Isles,” co-organized with the Department of Literary Studies.
