Center for Russian Studies
Head of the Center – Irina I. Glebova
Founded at INION in 2008, the Center for Russian Studies focuses on the in-depth examination of Russia as a unique civilizational whole, utilizing a holistic approach to uncover its defining features.
The Centre publishes the academic periodical, “Proceedings in Russian Studies”, featuring leading experts’ contributions.
Focus of research:
- Analyzing theoretical frameworks and historiographical perspectives within Russian studies;
- Exploring the pivotal moments in Russian history (such as the early twentieth-century revolutions, WWI, and the Civil War), and analyzing issues of historical memory, particularly the formation of national identities in Imperial Russia, the USSR, and the Russian Federation;
- Examining Russia as a cultural-historical type within the wider context of history, with particular emphasis on philosophical reflection.
